How Bjarne Found His Place as a Mentor at Hybrid

Every month at Hybrid, we put one of our colleagues in the spotlight. This time it’s Bjarne’s turn — he started more than six years ago as a performance marketer and today, as Head of Academy, he plays a key role in training and guiding our people. His journey perfectly illustrates that at Hybrid, growth doesn’t have to follow a single path — it follows the direction that suits you best.

From Marketer to Mentor

When Bjarne began his career at Hybrid, the focus was fully on clients and performance campaigns. He worked on a variety of accounts and, like every new colleague, quickly received real responsibility. But over time, he realized he felt more at home in a different kind of role.

“I realized that managing accounts just wasn’t for me. I preferred taking on an internal, more supportive role. And when I brought that up, people genuinely listened.”

That openness marked the start of something new. Bjarne got the opportunity to act as a buddy for a new colleague — an experiment that soon evolved into a more structured form of coaching.

“I realized that managing accounts just wasn’t for me. I preferred taking on an internal, more supportive role. And when I brought that up, people genuinely listened.”

Today, Bjarne leads the Hybrid Academy, where he’s responsible for onboarding, training, and supporting both new and experienced colleagues.

The Teacher Inside the Marketer

It’s no coincidence that Bjarne thrives in a training role. His original plan was to become a secondary school teacher, but just before the academic year started, he switched to Cross Media Management instead.

“I’ve always been strongly interested in the internet and data. That combination really appealed to me. And now, in my current role, that teaching aspect has actually come back — although I see myself more as a coach than a teacher.”

That blend of didactics and digital expertise is exactly what makes the Hybrid Academy strong: internal trainings that go beyond theory and translate directly into real-life practice.

A Culture of Trust and Growth

Anyone who talks to Bjarne quickly notices how proud he is of Hybrid’s culture.

“Hybrid is a close-knit group of people working toward one shared goal: driving client performance and supporting the growth of our own team. We don’t just see each other as colleagues — we genuinely see each other as friends.”

This sense of connection shows up in the small things: shared lunches, monthly activities, and the annual team trip. But it also runs deep in the way people work together. The open culture gives room to learn, make mistakes, and ask questions — something Bjarne focuses on every day as a coach.

His own role is the best example: it emerged because Hybrid is willing to listen and give people space to use their strengths.

Growing as a Mentor

Over the years, Bjarne evolved from someone who delivered trainings to someone who guides people over the long term. Today, he not only looks at skills or knowledge, but also at how colleagues feel in their roles and how they can continue to grow.

“That has been an important learning process for me. That personal follow-up is incredibly rewarding — especially the gratitude you get in return.”

His advice to new colleagues sums up his own journey beautifully:

“Put your concerns on the table. I did the same — with a bit of fear, to be honest. But Hybrid really looks at what you want and how you can use your strengths. I’m still very grateful for that.”

Looking Ahead

Today, Bjarne is excited to further develop the Academy and keep evolving in his role. The way training and coaching have become a structural part of Hybrid makes him visibly proud.

His story is living proof that growth isn’t always a straight line — sometimes it’s about finding the place where you truly thrive. And that’s exactly the space Hybrid creates.
