5 Reasons to Keep Choosing Email Marketing

The recently introduced GDPR rules have given a whole new dimension to sending commercial emails. Additionally, companies, including smaller SMEs and sole proprietors, are increasingly communicating through social media.

So why should you still engage in email marketing? Here are 5 reasons to continue using emails as a communication channel.

1. More Personal Contact

Social media is flooded with companies vying for attention. Just look at the ads in your own Facebook feed or the increasing number of companies jumping onto Instagram.

Emails, on the other hand, land directly in your audience’s own ‘digital mailbox.’ While emails may not be the most personal way to reach potential customers, they are certainly much more personal than a social media post that gets lost in the crowd.

2. Building a Database

The money is in the list! An email list remains a very valuable tool for your business. By engaging in email marketing, you build a list of people who, in one way or another, are interested in your products or services.

Just be sure to always ensure that your emails continue to meet the expectations of your target audience.

3. Tracking the ‘Customer Life Cycle’

Every customer leaves traces through email (clicks, purchases, responses, unsubscribes, etc.). With email marketing, you can perfectly respond to what customer A expects at moment B. For example, think of a reminder email targeted at a specific segment of your list that has previously shown interest in a particular product. A non-commercial reminder email for an update on that product can work wonders.

A key condition, of course, is that your database is well organized.

4. Email Marketing is Affordable

Email marketing is much cheaper than, for example, campaigns via social media or other communication channels like flyers and TV commercials. With a bit of creativity, you can create effective emails and send them with just one click.

For those without large lists within the target audience, email marketing can even be done with simple and free tools. Examples of such supporting tools include Mailchimp and MailerLite.

5. Emails are Read

Admit it: how often do you check your emails per day? Right, more than once. You can be fairly certain that a large part of your target audience will read at least some of your email.

Tip: make sure to use attention-grabbing and enticing subject lines to encourage the reader to keep reading.

Caution: it’s important that your emails are mobile-friendly, as many emails are read on smartphones.
