Four steps to skyrocket your event!

Your event sold out in just a few steps?

Thirty years ago, organizing an event meant printing paper invitations, stuffing them into stamped envelopes, and waiting in line at the post office. By 2018, Facebook became the ideal medium to reach potential attendees you wouldn’t have reached otherwise.

How do you start promoting your event online? And what should you focus on? Here’s a handy step-by-step plan for giving your event a major boost.

Step 1: Create an event on Facebook

Through your business or organization page, click on ‘Events,’ then ‘Create event.’ Go through the practical steps (photo, name, date, duration, location, etc.).

Tip: Use high-quality images that convey the atmosphere, not just static logos.

Step 2: Create a landing page for registrations

After creating your event online, make sure your back-office is ready. Interested people will respond with ‘going,’ ‘interested,’ or ‘not going,’ but it’s important to guide Facebook users to your own channels where they can purchase tickets or sign up. This way, you can calculate actual conversions.

You can set up the landing page on your own website, or use platforms like Eventbrite.com, Event-tickets.be, or Tibbaa.com.

Step 3: Promote your event via Facebook ads

Creating an event on Facebook is not enough. Use ads to optimize your event’s reach. Defining your target audience as specifically as possible is crucial for success. If your event consists of multiple activities and/or locations, split your campaigns according to these different audiences.

We set up a prospecting campaign to attract new audiences. Additionally, we set up remarketing to show ads to people who’ve visited your landing page.

Besides promoting your event, you can also promote your page to increase the number of likes.

Step 4: Don’t underestimate the power of organic posts

Leverage the power of your network. Share organic posts within your event. People who have responded positively or are interested will get a notification. Make the content as interesting and eye-catching as possible, so your network starts sharing and liking.

Tip: Post a fun or original fact about your event, or give a sneak peek by posting a “making of” photo. For example, for a workshop on repairing flat bike tires: “The average Dutch person cycles 2.9 km per day. Who can do better?”
